Volney is a sex worker with 20+ yrs. experience , a community organizer with focus on class and community empowerment via mutual aid paired with political education, and the program coordinator for Ishtar Collective’s LGBTQ Pop-Out Clinic.
A Washington, VT resident, Volney is originally from The Bronx, NY. Having experienced everything that poverty has to offer— They got involved in class based political organizing, and moved to Vermont to lobby and educate around universal healthcare and affordable housing.
They believe that no matter how you choose to or have to support yourself or live your life, food, housing and healthcare are a nonnegotiable foundation for a life of any quality. Helping to think through and model new ways of providing access to these pillars is only the first step in shifting a system that overlooks the people most affected.
