Christine Rigó is a Montpelier resident of 6+ years and sex industry ally. He is a first-generation “American”, born in North Bergen, NJ and grew up in the Catskills of New York (both unceded Munsee Lenape land). Christine fled home in early adulthood and spent the subsequent years in community with many criminalized or formerly criminalized peoples, juxtaposing her sheltered upbringing. During this time he first began to realize her proximity to sex work (SW) and sex workers (SWers), while also participating in criminalized activities as means of income and survival. Christine relocated to Abenaki land (Vermont) in 2015 and ever since then, unlearning unexamined worldviews from upbringing and healing have become lifelong commitments.
Her professional background is in the food service and culinary industries, miscellaneous labor, freelance art, and administrative support. He has volunteered in organizing several charity events and/or participated in fundraisers as a musician in the band Yestrogen prior to joining the Ishtar Collective, her first advocacy role. Christine is impassioned to educate herself and others on SW and interrelated topics such as anti-trafficking, social and racial justice, and workers’ rights. He is committed to ensuring that SWers have a seat at the table in legislation for SW decriminalization in Vermont.”
